ERF were contacted several months ago by the owner of this horse after he had received a terrible injury to his leg that would not repair. A small fortune was spent on vet’s fees by the owner trying to repair the leg. A horse has tested positive for Equine Infectious Anaemia (Anémie infectieuse équine) following a Coggins test in dept. 83, Var.
The disease, spread by biting insects is often fatal in equines.
The equine that tested positive has now been euthanized. All equines in the immediate area have been quarantined, including the equines of Zavatta circus that are in the area. Any equine may be tested...
