Manon & Rowan are adopted
Posted by on Jan 13, 2011 in Donkeys | 0 commentsYesterday we were out on the road taking Manon and her gorgeous foal Rowan to their new adoptive family in the Charente. Manon was rescued by one of our supporters last year and came into ERF hands recently so that we could safeguard her and her foals future for the rest of their lives.
Manon was pregnant with her eighth foal, all of which were being bred for the meat trade, when she was taken to Maurs meat fair to be sold. That day she saw her long term partner and latest foal loaded onto a lorry destined for Italy. A weak and nervous Manon wasn’t sold at Maurs that day, instead her owner took her home and abandoned her in a field with no shade or water and it was here that she was finally rescued by a kind hearted donkey lover.
Manon and 6 month old Rowan settled in to their new home straight away yesterday and their three new donkey friends were keen to come across and introduce themselves. This is an idyllic home for the donkeys as the family already have a female donkey and her 6 month old foal, so the two youngsters will be able to grow up together. We wish them all the very best for the future….
